YOU KNOW

AFTER DEATH, WITH VICKI JO ON THE FRONT PORCH SWING

INVISIBLE MUSICS

I've seen black music pass slowly
over the Castle of Daily Chores
See red mountains now
Sangre de Cristo
Stars rising out of invisible musics
Arriving nowhere for everyone
I step backwards from a mirror
see upsidedown trees
Three desert vultures crowd into the
Blessed Sacrament turned flesh
turned snow
Disappearing radioactive Pajarito
Plateau
White music
turned snow

INSANE PROP

He doesn't like our kind

He told our attorney

At a meet where he offered

$110,000 for our 1 acre

Arroyo trailer trash land

We still live here

The music sunlight makes

On Maria's forehead is

My frequent escape hatch

A cottonwood tree is the last mirror

I'll ever see

A voice underground says

Sit here with me

I'm dead I want you to know

What it's like down here

I think I've been there before

I'll listen

I think I'll go again

COW CANDY

Razors came yellow with thumbs

I want to bore you

With dried muffins of symbolist flour

If I say

Cow candy

Think

Communist hamburger

If I say

sunshine

Hear Mozart

Mexican food can't be faked

(German accent)

Basic black nylons on ordinary legs

make a stop sign glow

Confucius say:

If wife is having a bad baking day

don't buy her an apron
